Mike Libby, American contemporary artist creating works of art from a combination of the two, insect and an old mechanical electronic components, in order to create cybernetic sculptures. It happened when the discovery of a dead beetle left him wondering how
it would look if it were mechanical inside. Out came an old watch and
soon he had created a piece of art. He has now taken the art form to a
new level by sourcing his specimens from high quality dealers who deal
with insects from all over the world. He then inserts parts from antique
watches and invites people to send in their own insects to be used. Mike create an Insect Lab which is customizes real insect specimens with
antique watch parts and other technological components. From ladybugs
to grasshoppers, each is individually hand adorned, and original a
unique celebration of the contradictions between nature and technology.
