Artist Celina Ortiz and her husband from Orlando, creates eco-friendly “Tree of Life” pendants together with her husband under the name RecycledBeautifully. The couple scavenge TVs that people throw in the trash and pull copper or aluminum wire from them. Then they twist the wire into trees that wrap around various vibrant stones that range from conventional turquoise or agate to more psychedelic-looking opals and abalones.

realistic wood carving food by Seiji Kawasaki

realistic wood carving food by Seiji Kawasaki

Japanese wood carving artist Seiji Kawasaki, creates ultra-realistic looking food made out of wood. Shrimp, bread, fish, potato chips, croissants – he has created them all and more! But it’s not just his carving skills that make the little sculptures look so realistic, it’s his ability to paint them with such detail. Kawaski said the theme of his work is “emergence of qualia“.  these are positive, direct and subjective feelings. The person who looks at  his work feels like eating even though he knows that it is actually wood.

shadow art light by Fabrizio Coneli

shadow art light by Fabrizio Coneli

Florence-based artist Fabrizio Corneli  doesn’t use a canvas or a paintbrush  like most artists. But he uses light, and as you can see from these pictures, he’s certainly onto a bright idea. Coneli who uses mathematical calculations to produce his stunning shadow sculptures says that  “light is the energy which creates forms,”. So when the lights are turned off, and only when the lights are switched on do the silhouettes takes form to create beautiful pictures upon the adjacent walls.
